New Project Management Professional Certification Examination

The new Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Examination was launched in March 2002. The most significant change is that the examination now covers a new performance domain titled "Professional Responsibility", in addition to the existing domains of Initiating, Planning, Executing, Controlling, and Closing. The Project Management Institute (PMI®) recognizes the new domain as an important aspect in fulfilling the role of a project management professional.

With the addition of the new domain, the examination now breaks down as follows:

Examination content Percentage of questions
Project Initiation 8.5%
Project Planning 23.5%
Project Execution 23.5%
Project Control 23%
Project Closing 7%
Professional Responsibility 14.5%

Preparing for the New Examination
Why waste time looking for information to help you prepare for the exam? The PrimeProject Management™ Professional curriculum has been updated to include the information you need. As part of the curriculum's set of on-line learning resources, we outline the areas in the Professional Responsibility domain that you need to familiarize yourself with before taking the examination, including a set of sample questions and answers!

What's Coming Next?

We will be adding an entire new course on this domain to the PrimeProject Management Professional curriculum soon. The curriculum will also include an updated PMP Certification Review course, which goes through a series of sample test items covering each of the domains defined by PMI's Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
