PrimeLearning and the PMI
As a PMI® Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.), PrimeLearning.com® is committed to enhancing the on going professional development of PMI Members, PMI-certified Project Management Professionals (PMP®), and other project management stakeholders through appropriate project management learning activities and products.
Who is the PMI?
Founded in 1969, the PMI® is the world’s leading, non-profit association for project management professionals. In 1984, the PMI® introduced PMP® (Project Management Professional) certification – the world’s most recognized professional credential for those working in the project management area.
To sit the PMP® examination, candidates must have 35 contact hours of education or training. To maintain PMP® Certification, PMP®s must accrue a minimum of 60 Professional
Development Units (PDUs) every three years.
What is the PMI R.E.P. Program?
The PMI® Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.) Program aims to enhance the ongoing professional development of PMI® members, PMP®s, and other project management stakeholders. Linking stakeholders and training coordinators with qualified providers and products, the PMI® REP program establishes quality criteria and operational guidelines for participating providers. All providers must agree to abide by these principles while participating in the program.
As a Registered Education Provider, PrimeLearning.com® is now offering PDUs (Professional Development Units) to candidates who successfully complete specified PrimeLearning.com courses. Now you can learn and earn simultaneously!
What is PrimeLearnings R.E.P. Number?
PrimeLearnings R.E.P. number is 1166.
What is a PDU?
A PDU (Professional Development Unit) is the unit of measurement that PMI® uses to quantify approved learning and professional service activities. Participants may earn PDUs by completing educational activities that are provided by R.E.P.s. Typically, participants earn one PDU for each contact hour spent in a structured learning experience. Fractions of PDUs may be granted in 0.25 increments after the first contact hour. PMP® examination candidates and PMP®s may register these PDUs towards the attainment or maintenance of their certification.
How many PDUs do participants need to earn?
If applying to sit the PMP examination for the first time, participants need 35 PDUs. To maintain PMP certification, PMPs need to accrue 60 PDUs over a three-year period.
How are PDUs reported?
PMPs are responsible for reporting their activities as they occur by completing the PMP Professional Development Activities Form and forwarding the required information to the PMI/PDP Records Office at the University of Oklahoma. PMPs are also required to maintain a personal PDP (Professional Development Program) folder containing all the documentation needed to support their claim. For more information see www.pmi.org.
