Our Design Philosophy


Introduction
At PrimeLearning.com®, our aim is to help you to improve your individual performance and the business performance of your organization. That aim forms the foundation of our instructional design philosophy.

Instructional design is the methodology of applying human information processing, psychology, and learning theories to the design of instruction. Based on proven instructional design techniques, our instructional methodology enables you to focus on achieving your learning goals.

Our innovative instructional design philosophy draws on the research of eminent educators such as Bloom, Mager, Gagné, and Merrill, as well as on the ideas of some of the most prominent researchers in the field of adult learning theory. For example, we have used the work of Knowles on andragogy and of Rodgers on experiential learning to develop content in a way that suits the different styles and requirements of adult learners. In addition, our designers maintain and enhance their own skills through their continual research into the most recent advances in the instructional design field.

Our instructional design philosophy ensures that you:

  1. benefit from a course structure optimized to facilitate learning needs

Curriculum Design

When planning a PrimeLearning.com® curriculum, our designers work closely with a subject matter expert (SME) to identify important work-related tasks. Our SMEs are all experts in their chosen fields, and each has many years of experience in delivering high-quality instructional content. This careful planning ensures that PrimeLearning.com courses are relevant both to the learner and to today's marketplace.

 
Performance Objectives

As an adult learner embarking on a learning program, you want to know what skill or knowledge you will gain from that program and how your new learning will be relevant to your current knowledge and skills development goals. Performance objectives help you to achieve your goals and help us to guide you along the right path.

As Robert Mager, the well-known educational psychologist, once said, "If you're not sure where you're going, you're liable to end someplace else." For Mager, an objective is defined as "a description of a performance you want learners to be able to exhibit before you consider them competent. An objective describes the intended result of instruction, rather than the process of instruction itself."
